Don't Forget to See Moon on August 10, 2014, Which Will Be 14% Larger and 30% Brighter

Supermoon is the term used when the moon comes much closer to earth during its elliptical orbit. Apogee is when the moon is far from earth and perigee is when moon is very close to earth.

At perigee, moon appears 14% larger and 30% brighter. In year 2014, we have three super moon, one occurred on July 12. On August 10, another will occur and this is the perigee i.e. it is the closest occurrence of a moon.

And you know what? There are some speculations that these supermoon occurrence had some effects on natural disasters like 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.
